If they instead adopted a firewire solution where they had a KYMA-like DSP box (expandable) connected via firewire with software on the computer running their interface they could be cross platform and have a better solution than anything out there. And as with any sampler that depends on a translator to get access to other sample library formats, something will be lost in translation.
Also, EMU is probably hoping to once again repackage it's same old library of sounds which are no longer that appealing. They are head to head against Gigastudio which is already well entrenched as a top solution. Unfortunate business decision on the part of EMU.
